Today I have exciting news! I know I'm usually the one talking about the hottest celebrities and what's going on in their lives, but today I'm going to switch it up. A reading about memorials sparked my interest in my next project. I'm used to staying on the blogs, but I decided to give producing a shot. I created a short documentary about the Berlin Holocaust Memorial. This memorial was designed very differently, and I wanted to glorify the architect's work. This design spoke volume of the events that occurred during the Holocaust. I also included pictures that validate some of the critiques some people had.
I believe that writing/composing is the production of a piece of work. It can be an essay or it can be a song. They may have different conventions but their end goal is the same. I believe that my work is a combination of both. I had to write my dialogue for the voice over, but I also composed the entire video. There was a lot of editing involved, and precise cuts that needed to be made so that the words matched to the screen. I believe that my video shows effective communication because my audience will be able to not only listen to what I am saying but also see what I am talking about. I believe this will get the message across perfectly. My video is about the word design and exemplifies design itself. Design is similar to writing and composing because it is a production to create the end goal. In my case, I had to put together clips and design it in a certain way that would best represent my message. This includes the coloring of the video, the pacing, and the order of the clips. I think that my video embodies our key term Design. The composition I made discusses the memorial's design, the design of the edited pictures, and the video itself is a design. It is the work of putting things together with clear intention to get the message across.
