When I think of the word composing, there are multiple words that come into my mind. Composing is not the act of one thing, but of multiple techniques coming together to produce a finished product. I believe that writing and editing are two main components that help compose. Writing is putting together ideas to paper using words. Editing is the process that takes those words and makes them into understandable ideas. Composing is writing and editing working together in order to create something new. Some key terms that I would associate with composing, editing and writing are: audience, assemblage, remediation, remix, audience, exigency, design, genre, circulation, music and videos. These are aspects that composing, editing and writing can be used for. When putting all these words together it is easier to understanding what composing, writing and editing really is. Although many people can have different definitions for each, many can agree that they contribute to the overall big picture. After project 2, I was able to get a better understand of what these three words meant. After project one I had a better understanding on what composing was. This project is what helped me realize that editing was part of the composing process. After project 2, I was able to understand how writing was also a big component in the composing process. After doing multiple projects where composing is at the center I was able to come to some conclusions. Writing is using those words from writing to create a bigger picture. Writing helps composing and contributes to getting your idea across. Editing is the process of fixing what you have already done so that your message is clear and concise. I believe that writing and editing contribute to the composing process. They are different because writing can stand on it's own. Editing is a tool we use for composing and writing. I was able to use the definitions I learned in the classroom to help with real life situations and vice versa. It is one thing to read a definition but when you put those definitions into play and actually use them you can see how they really work and how it all relates. It verifies my definitions and understand of composing, editing and writing.
