For my next blog, I will be discussing Jody Shipka's "Negotiating Rhetorical, Material, Methodological, and Technological Difference: Evaluating Multimodal Designs." Although this doesn't seem like it relates to the celebrity world, this read helps you understand different perspectives. I really appreciated that she acknowledged that she might have been the one that didn't understand rather than saying the student didn't understand the assignment. I also like how she took the time to piece together the meaning of this girls project. I really enjoyed reading about the girl's project. I felt that it was out of the box and very creative, the creativity that many people should acquire especially in the music/movie industry. I agree with Jody when she says that students who explored the different ways to present their projects were more engaged with the work and were less likely to procrastinate on it. Doing creative projects are more engaging than having a student write an essay. The student producing something other than an essay shows that not only do they know the material but they can also apply it to the real world. This will help mold them into more creative and efficient adults. When actors or singers use this as a framework, they can better their careers because they will be more efficient. It is important that in an industry that is so competitive they stand out, in order to do so it would help to think outside the box of what is considered to be the norm. If they are inventive like this one student, they would be able to improve the message they want to relay to their audience. I appreciate that Yancey discusses how digital compositions can bring society together in new ways. Our society is rapidly progressing with new technology, and it is important that we adapt to the changes. This includes changing the way students learn. But it is also important to recognize that just because technology is advancing how students learn in school, this should not replace doing hands-on activities to help them learn as well. The two should work side by side advancing how everyone can learn, and how we can better the system.
